The XVIII Session of the Intergovernmental Commission for economic-commercial and scientific-technical collaboration between the Republic of Cuba and the Russian Federation met in Havana on March 31 and April 1 in an atmosphere of fruitful dialogue, in accordance with the excellent state of bilateral relations.

Both sides addressed the main issues of interest for the development of bilateral ties and the effective participation of the Russian Federation in Cuba’s Economic and Social Development Program until 2030. It was agreed to work on the promotion of Cuban exports to the Russian market and the development of businesses of mutual interest.

They also reviewed the status of several projects considered priorities for Cuba in the energy, transport, industry, communications, health and agriculture sectors.

At the end of the meeting, which was preceded by the sessions of the 14 working groups in the different areas of relations, the Final Act of the XVIII Session was signed by the Co-Chairs Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Cuba and Mr. Yuri Ivanovich Borisov, Vice-President of the Government of the Russian Federation. Other agreements related to the financial, education and agricultural sectors, among others, were also signed.

The heads of the respective delegations were accompanied by representatives of governmental and business entities of both countries.
