The new policy for the commercialization of agricultural products, which introduces important modifications for this process, will come into force on June 4, according to a press conference at the Ministry of Agriculture. Mayra Cruz Legón, head of the Agrarian Policy Department of the Legal Directorate, and Gisel González Marrero, director of marketing, announced that Decree 35/2021 and the complementary resolutions, were  published in the Official Gazette no.41, of May 4, 2021. As explained, this decree, with 11 chapters, aims at establishing the regulations on the processes for wholesale and retail commercialization. Among the main transformations that are introduced are the flexibility of the marketing of agricultural products for different destinations, ordering the wholesale and retail sales, supported by a value chain approach and aims to raise the added value of such products, through the use of a system of brands, variety of packaging, quality, prices, with adherence to the established safety measures. The new policy introduces incentives for the production, collection and marketing of products, aims to maintain the updating and disclosure  of prices and the creation of new type of markets that impact on the  image, cleanliness, organization, variety of offers and services. It also regulates the powers of the provincial and municipal councils of the administration in marketing, with the assistance of a committee for the contracting of agricultural productions. One of the basic principles  is the role of contracts, which will govern the entire process, taking into account the interests of the State, defined in the balance sheets at all  levels, using the Computerized System for Agricultural Planning (SIPA), in order to ensure transparency at the producer level.
