The promotion and diversification of exports will be work priorities of the Chamber of Commerce of the Republic of Cuba this year.

This was reported today on his Twitter account by the Cuban Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment, Rodrigo Malmierca Díaz, who chairs the working meeting of that institution, together with Deputy Prime Minister Ricardo Cabrisas Ruíz. “In the presence of VPM Ricardo Cabrisas, the @Camara_Comercio meeting is held where the work priorities for 2021 are projected.

Promotion and diversification of exports in the spotlight. #SomosCuba #CubaViva ”, wrote Malmierca Díaz in the aforementioned social network.

Among the country’s actions to increase exports, the raising of the potential of exportable products and services stands out, which so far amounts to 1,145 offers.

Since August 2020, norms were approved in Cuba that opened the doors to the non-state sector for foreign trade, and the services and goods to be exported were diversified. According to the general director of Foreign Trade in that Ministry (MINCEX), Vivian Herrera Cid, as of that date, 1,010 contracts have been signed with forms of non-state management, 53 of them for export.

In its Twitter account, the directive called on Cuban foreign trade companies to provide excellent services to these actors of the national economy to make processes viable and lower the cost of export operations.

During a recent interview with the Granma newspaper, Herrera Cid highlighted the need to reverse the import trend of the Cuban economy, to the extent that the national industry is able to satisfy the growing demand of all economic actors. According to the general director of Foreign Trade of MINCEX, at present it has begun to untie ties and the results, sooner rather than later, should be positive.
