Cuba’s Foreign Trade Single Window (VUCE) started online procedures in a test phase, informed a source in the sector.
We are building the Foreign Trade Single Window. Online procedures begin in test environment’, Vivian Herrera, general director of Foreign Trade of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment (Mincex), said on her official Twitter profile.
It is an electronic platform that allows to carry out procedures and manage permits related to import and export activities, and is the result of the work being carried out to computerize foreign trade processes, according to the Ministry’s website.
It was managed through a program sponsored by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development with financing from the European Union.
The purpose of the SW is to facilitate the management of Cuban and foreign businessmen who carry out international purchase and sale operations.
The implementation of the Window, once its three stages are completed, will allow foreign trade actors (companies, declarants, freight forwarders, carriers, foreign suppliers) to simultaneously manage online the necessary authorizations and payments with the entities in charge of registrations and permits prior to the release of goods.
The VUCE will be a very useful instrument, in accordance with the systematic efforts we are making to improve the conditions for Cuba’s insertion in the international market and the competitiveness of our products’, said the head of the Mincex, Rodrigo Malmierca, at the presentation of the first phase of the project on August 6.
Beyond the facilitation of the administrative processes of foreign trade, the SW will have important implications in the institutional inter-operability within the country and, at a later stage, with other SWs in the world’, said Malmierca.
