Cuba participated in the International Tourism Fair of Ukraine (UITT 2021). The event took place from May 11-13 at the Kiev Exhibition Center venue.The event was held at the Kiev Exhibition Center.

The Fair began with a Round Table, the main topics of which were: the opening of the borders of each participating country, and preparations for the 2021 tourist season. In the latter section, security protocols and border crossing rules were discussed.

The Round Table was attended by diplomatic representatives from Bulgaria, Montenegro, Argentina, Egypt, Vietnam, among others. Also participating were managers of the Ukrainian Tourist Agencies Coral Travel and Pegas Touristik.

Cuba was represented in the debate by the Cuban Ambassador to Ukraine, Natacha Díaz Aguilera, and the Head of Consular Affairs, Alberto Adrián Fuentes Acosta.

The Cuban diplomats outlined how Cuba is preparing for the upcoming tourist season and   hopes to become a popular destination in the development of ecotourism.

As a highly topical issue, the presentation focused attention on the possibility of Cuba, in the near future, to offer a safe stay for tourists in a country free of coronavirus as the Cuban government expects to conclude the process of vaccinating 100% of the Island’s population by the end of this year.

During the first day of the Tourism Fair, Diaz Aguilera held meetings with executives of the Ukrainian tourist agencies Coral Travel, TUI, and Pegas; and with representatives of Turkish Airlines.

The Cuban diplomat presented the prospects for the development of tourism in the coming months and the expectations of an increase in the sector.  

Prior to the onset of the pandemic, Ukraine ranked among the top 20 markets for tourists to Cuba.
