The island’s delegation headed by Cuba participated in the 24th Ibero-American Conference of Ministers and Entrepreneurs of Tourism, CIMET 2021, a preamble to the important trade fair in the sector, which is being held from today until May 23.

At the conference, the Cuban representation promoted the new Portfolio of Business Opportunities, and disseminated the way to boost foreign investment in new projects, especially between Cuba and Spain.

Cuba has 76,000 rooms managed by different national and international hotel chains, 75 percent of which are four- and five-star hotels, the Cuban minister said in his presentation.

He highlighted the new generation of luxury hotels that are beginning to distinguish Havana, the country’s capital, and the addition to the number of rooms of more than 25,000 rooms in the private sector throughout the country.

Also in attendance were the Commercial Director of the Cuban Ministry of Tourism, Michel Bernal, the Director of Communications Dulce María Sánchez, and presidents of hotel entities and the Viajes Cuba business group.

During the first exchanges with tourism professionals attending the fair, Cuba showcased its new hotel products, excursions and ways of doing tourism at the present time, with the full guarantee of the current sanitary and hygienic protocols in force.
Cuba is committed to the safety of visitors and workers during the gradual resumption of tourism operations. All hotel facilities are implementing the Safer and More Hygienic Tourism certification, which combines the recommendations of the World Health Organization and the Ministry of Public Health of the Caribbean island.

Likewise, an intervention study began in several provinces of the country with vaccine candidates to face Covid-19 Soberana 02 and Abdala, which will immunize 70 percent of the population by August, according to official reports.

At the IFEMA fairgrounds, the island’s stand is located in Pavilion 3, number C04.
